Indian Head Massage (Seated)

Relaxation for the Mind, Body & Soul

Indian Head Massage, as the name suggests, originated from India and is a type of massage based on the alternative medicine system, Ayurveda, originating 3,000 years ago as an holistic healing system. Ayurveda is based on the belief that health & wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body & spirit.

Indian Head Massage has been practiced in India for over 2,000 years and now combines this traditional style of massage with the benefits of Western massage to re-balance, focussing on the three upper chakras of the throat, third eye and crown, which has a positive effect on the whole energy system. This is done by massaging acupressure points along the head, neck, shoulders, and for longer treatments, the face and arms.

Indian Head Massage can be done seated, and WITH or WITHOUT OILS, making it a treatment that can easily be done just about anywhere.

Jenny’s clients cannot get enough of it, feeling so relaxed when combined with Jenny’s Reiki hands which naturally channel healing energy, and her own blend of oils which assist with relaxation and smell just divine.

Benefits you may experience:

  • relaxes the nervous system to reduce stress and tension
  • relieves symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • eases tension headaches, migraines and eye strain
  • relieves insomnia & restlessness
  • relaxes muscles and relieves joint & muscle stiffness
  • stimulates the hair & scalp for hair health & growth
  • stimulates the lymphatic and circulatory system, to maintain proper blood circulation, body fluid balance and a healthy immune function
  • relieves sinisitus
  • renews energy levels

How to Prepare for Seated Indian Head Massage

1. HAIR: If you have long hair, please put it up or into a bun or small pony tail so it’s not touching the neck or shoulders. This will be removed once the shoulders and neck have been massaged.

Please note, some oil may get into the hair so it’s best to wash your hair after the massage rather than before. If you plan on going somewhere afterwards, you may wish to bring a comb or brush as your hair could become a little messy.

2. CLOTHING: Using oils is always the best option. WOMEN can wear an off-the-shoulder top, boob tube, sarong, or singlet/camisole or swimmers where the straps can be placed to the side.

3. WITHOUT OILS: If you prefer a dry massage, wearing a loose t-shirt is advised for the best massage experience.

The small muscles around my head responded to Jen’s delicate touch today. I almost fell asleep; it was so soothing.

A head massage encourages relaxation and I was impressed with Jen’s warm healing hands, as I felt my whole body relax.

Jen started with a neck and shoulder massage and all the tension in my shoulders faded away. The rose geranium essential oil (blend) she used smelled simply gorgeous.

Jen is a lovely soul and I would recommend her services to anyone.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been feeling very fatigued and headachy. I came to Jenny to get an Indian Head Massage and she did an amazing job! With her sensitive touch and empathic nature, I felt very relaxed as she got out all my knots, and hit the right points in my head, neck and shoulders! Feeling much better, highly recommend!
